Snohomish – Quilted Textile Collage Art by Mary Gorfine

Snohomish is an original quilted textile collage inspired by the natural landscapes of Snohomish, Washington in the Pacific Northwest. Created from a photograph taken on my youngest sister’s property, the piece captures the layered greens, richness, and organic movement of a forest environment — translating nature into textile form.

Handcrafted from layers of commercial and hand-dyed fabrics, mindfully arranged and raw-edge appliquéd to the background, the surface is richly quilted with more than ten thread colors that create dimension, texture, and visual movement throughout. The forest imagery extends into the borders — reflecting the idea that nature does not end at boundaries, but continues beyond them.

This work is ready to display and brings warmth, depth, and a calming natural presence into any interior space. A pocket on the back accommodates a hanging rod or board for easy mounting.
