Set Yourself Up For Successful Stitching   1 hour lecture

This one hour lecture is the perfect set-up for Mary’s half-day Introduction to Machine Quilting workshop. She will explain the basics of how every sewing machine works, simple cleaning and maintenance tips and when to play with your tension settings, both top and bottom. Learn about differences between machine needles, threads & batting with the scoop on how to put them all together for successful piecing and quilting.

Introduction to Machine quilting   Half or Full Day Workshop

The Half Day Workshop starts with proper use of walking foot & explores beyond straight lines. Moving on to the free motion foot, learn simple shapes that form the basis for more complicated patterns as skill increases with practice at home. We’ll talk about options for basting projects & share suggestions for setting up your workspace. The Full Day begins with an expanded version of Set Yourself Up For Successful Stitching.

Mastering Fusibles   1 hour lecture

With so many different fusible products on the market, choosing the right one can be confusing. Mary will share her tips & tricks for working with fusible stabilizers and some of their “cousins.” She’ll compare properties of popular stabilizers and share products she likes that make working with them easier, including iron cleaners, ironing surfaces and rotary cutter care. Includes handout.

Little Bird   Full Day Workshop

Use fused applique to make a small quilted collage. You will cut foliage and other embellishments from printed fabric to creating a unique garden for your birds. Learn non-traditional ways to finish your quilt including how to mount it onto a stretched canvas. Canvasses and kits available for purchase. 

Laure Heine Quilted Collage   Full Day Workshop

Students choose from a list of Laura Heine’s collage quilt patterns that use her basic technique. Learn Laura’s clever & easy way to create specific shapes without templates, general techniques for fabric collage and get individual help making the pattern come alive using principles of good design. No sewing machine needed in class.

Laura Heine Making Fish   Full Day Workshop

Laura Heine’s charming fish collage pattern employs a variation of the technique used in her other collage quilt patterns. Mary will show students how to use this technique in other collage and applique projects as well. Kits are available for purchase. No sewing machine needed in clas

Learn to add details with ink, oil pastels, colored pencils & other marking tools.
