Giving Old Jeans a Second Life
Every pair of jeans I use comes from a friend cleaning out a closet or a thrift store find. They have stains, faded knees, and belt loops that have seen better days. I wash them, dry them, and then the real work begins. Deconstructing a pair of jeans takes over an hour. I remove the waistband, save the pockets, and keep every belt loop. Nothing goes to waste. Large scraps become bag bodies. Small pieces become flowers. The tiniest bits go to local quilters who stuff dog beds for our animal shelter. This is not just recycling. It is respect for the material and the hands that made it first.
